My local New Holland dealer does not have a TC33D. He says I will have to order one from the factory to get one. I would like to know if the TC33D with the hydrostatic transmission has the pedal where you can lock the rear end for better traction. I will be using the tractor on hills. My local dealer does not know the answer to this question. Can anybody help me. Also, tell me if you are happy with the TC33D and the hydrostatic transmission. It will help me with my buying decision since the tractors are not available for a test drive.

I don't own a 33D, but my TC21D has a differential lock, and I'm 99% sure all Boomers do. It works well, I use it all the time. Even comes in handy in 4-wheel drive, for when 1 rear wheel gets off the ground over rough terrain. If you like the 33 as much as I like my 21, then you'll be happy with it. ....

I am a newbie to tractors, and had a TC29D, but recently upgraded to a TC33D. I am VERY happy with it. I primarily use it for mowing and I can do 5+ acres (all very steep hills) with many trees to go around in under 3 hours.sure beats the 7-8 it was taking with my 25HP Sears garden!! The 33 has lots or horses when pulling downed tree and heavyier work. I like the power.If you have a lot of hills (like i do) i highly recommend a test drive at your location to make sure it does what you want. My 29 had a little trouble, and the 33 made such a big difference, i suspect my 29 had have a slight transmission defect. My dealer wa able to local a 33D for me and have it delivered in under a week. All TCxx serices have the differential lock. (luck perhaps?)Also, some things you can do to help yourself out on the hills. - fill the tires to lower your center of gravity and dish out the tires to widen your base.Be slow and CAREFUL on hills!!! I have tested out every feature on my 33D except the ROPS and don't plan on doing that anytime soon.I also have the supersteer option - SWEET SWEET SWEET. It manuvers better than my little garden tractor but it can cause some turf damage if you are going too fast or are turning to sharpe into a hill.Hydro is great! I have heard you lose about 10% of the power by going hydro (some people say this is not true - I don't know), but if you do a lot of loader work or need to do a lot of speed/direction changes it's worth it.Only thing i have heard against the TC series is some people don't like the plastic. I figure every ten to fifteen years I can buy a new hood and side panals for a few cents if i need to, so this does not bother me.I figure i want the weight and metal toughness where it matters - engine, frame, axles, etc....I have also read where the JD is slightly easier to use in hooking up 3pt equipment, but i have no first hand experience with this. The 33 is pretty easy for one person to do with the deluxe linkage.It rides smooth and comfortable and is much quieter than i expected. Starts great and is easy on the fuel.Well - thats all i can think of - I am extremely happy with my 33. Good luck and happy tractoring........... ....

Hi Chris, Well they call me Scaper since I own a Landscape-Lawncare and Fence company here in Delaware. I have had my TC33D4 for two months now and have put this unit through some extremely heavy use. Loader work, mega fence posts 12" auger to a depth of 60", 60 deck holes to date some as large as 18", bush hog work about 12 acres, and I finish cut 54 acres aweek on two large horse farms. I have rototilled three acres renovating lawns with a 66" Befco tiller and have used a Roberts Jacobsen 1000# three point overseeder on 4 acres of lawn. This is one hell of a tractor to date, no problems at all. I love the seat most comfortable I have ever been on. My unit is the Hydro and yes they all have the traction lock now. I have been very impressed with the over all fit and finish on the tractor. My finish mower is the Woods RM660 72" unit. I have turf tires on my unit and have yet to spin a tire. The folding ROPS is wonderful for my mowing needs. I don't think there is a nicer unit on the market, and by the way I was a died in the wool Kubota owner before I made this new purchase. I think you will be very happy with your new unit. I have heard from Farminglady who has a TC29 gear unit and she says she loves it. I also wrote to Derek and Doug when they were looking for a new unit. They also seem to be very happy with their units. I don't have the TC33, mine is a TC29 gear job. But, if you like the hydrostatic,I think you'll be very happy with the '33. All of the TC's have a differential lockas standard equipment. You'll find you won't use it much though. I've probably usedit 3 times in 200 hours, in soupy mud. I've been taking the tractor through some pretty rough terrain,as we had the trees cut off the back 60 acres, and I've been working out there. Haven'thad to use the diff lock once.For Doug - I'm really surprised that you had trouble with your TC29. After using one forso long now, I don't think I'd go the extra money for that few additional horses. I haven'tyet found the job my TC29 can't do - and if you could see what I do with this tractor you'dshudder!! ....

I too have a TC33D - and yes it has the differential lock, I have used it numerous times.I opted for the TC33 over the TC29 because I too have a lot of hills.My guess is that on flat terrain you will not see much difference, but the extra 15% in HP does make a difference on the hills. In fact there are times that I wished I had gone to a utility class tractor. But in the long run, the TC33D really fits my needs.It could be that the reason the dealer is out of stock is because more buyers think that the extra HP is worth the extra $. I did and I still do. ....
